Background
International Organization for Migration (IOM), mission to the Republic of Moldova is seeking
for two Local Experts to support the further development of the
Extended Migration Profile of the Republic of Moldova
Purpose: The IOM will commission two Experts, who under the overall guidance of the Project Coordinator will contribute to the improvement of the links between the both banks’ academic and research community, enhancing the capacity of the Transnistrian academic and research community, policy makers and local authorities to collect, analyse, disseminate and use data required for an efficient formulation, implementation and monitoring of policies for minimization of the negative social costs of migration and enhancing the development potential of migration.
Assignments: TOR
Education:
- Advanced degree in economics, statistics, sociology and/or other social science related areas relevant for the assignment; preferably with training in research methods;
- Complementary studies in economics and/or international development will be an advantage;
- Other formal education relevant for the assignment;
Experience:
- At least 5 years of proven experience working with statistical research on human development / migration / social exclusion / poverty;
- Proven experience in developing analytical works in migration-related fields would be an asset;
- Previous experience of compiling reports upon statistical data indicators;
- Experience in working with international organizations and IOM and/or UN agencies in particular;
Competencies, skills and other requirements:
- Strong analytical, writing and communication skills;
- Knowledge of statistical methods and migration data sources at the national and regional level required;
- Experience with data assessments strongly desired and proven experience in developing analytical works in the field of migration or related domains such as social policy;
- Knowledge of the Migration Profile concept’s evolution and previous applications strongly desired;
- Knowledge of the peculiarities of statistical sector in Moldova strongly desired (statistical processes and practices, methodologies used in statistics, etc.);
- Familiarity with IOM’s mandate;
- Excellent English, Romanian and Russian; Working knowledge of one or more additional languages relevant for Moldova, including Bulgarian, Gagauzian, Romani, Ukrainian or sign language is an asset.
- Availability for the envisaged period and high mobility and flexibility.
