Background

UNICEF Moldova is seeking to contract a National Individual Consultant, to provide technical support to the Ministry of Justice (MJ) and the National Bureau of Statistics (NBS) to analyze the current situation in justice for children statistics and to develop recommendations to improve data collection, quality and dissemination in accordance with the national needs and international recommendations. The exercise will further contribute to regular monitoring of the situation, promote and strengthen a child friendly justice system, and sustain UNICEF’s advocacy efforts and its support to the MJ and NBS to enhance availability of data on children.

Qualifications and experience

  • Master’s Degree or equivalent (5-year university education) in law, human rights, social policy, economics, statistics or other relevant studies;
  • A minimum of 4 years of professional experience in the field of child rights/protection;
  • Analytical capacity and proven experience in quantitative and qualitative analysis of statistical data in the area of social statistics (excerpts of relevant documents need to be attached – max. 20 pages);
  • Demonstrated extensive knowledge of national and international law, in particular as concerns child friendly justice;
  • Experience in working with international organizations (working with UNICEF/other UN Agencies is an asset);
  • Fluency in English and Romanian.
