Background

UNICEF Moldova is looking for a Child Protection Specialist (NO-C) who will support the development and preparation of the Child Protection programme(s) and be responsible for the management, implementation, monitoring, reporting, and evaluation of the child protection programmes/projects within the country programme. Amongst core responsibilities for advancing the implementation of Moldova Country Office (MCO) Child Protection program, the Child Protection Specialist will be responsible for the quality implementation of two large European Union (EU) funded grants and one joint UN project. The post supervises one Child Protection Officer at NOB level.

Qualifications and experience:

  • A minimum of five years of professional experience in social development planning and management in child protection related areas is required.
  • Experience in managing EU funded grants is a considered a very strong asset.
  • Relevant experience in programme development in child protection related areas in a UN system agency or organization or as a civil servant is considered as an asset.
  • Experience in implementing child protection programs with focus on both alternative care and juvenile justice reforms in a middle-income country context is considered an asset. Experience in implementing programs addressing violence against children is also desirable.
  • Experience with the UN system reform and implementing joint UN projects is also desirable.
  • Experience in both development and humanitarian contexts is considered as an added advantage.
  • Fluency in Romanian and English is required. Knowledge of Russian is considered as an asset.
