Background

UNICEF Moldova is seeking a Specialist in Child Protection (full time office based)

Objectives: to provide technical support on (1) protection of children from violence, abuse, neglect and exploitation, (2) preventing of family separation and strengthening the protective potential of family environment, and (3) strengthening the justice for children system.

 Qualifications and experience:

 This assignment requires strong technical skills, as well as good knowledge of the national child protection environment including policies, strategies, legal and institutional framework. It also requires strong communication, mediation and cooperation skills.

 Key expected qualifications are as follows:

  • Advanced university degree in Social Sciences, Law, Human Rights or related field;
  • Minimum of 5 years of professional experience related to child protection;
  • Proven experience in program/project management and monitoring;
  • Excellent analytical capacities; excellent ability to synthesize information and relate action to results;
  • Excellent communication, presentation, teamwork and cooperation skills; ability to listen and express opinions sensitively; high work ethics;
  • Good knowledge of English and good writing skills (samples of developed reports should be provided);
  • Excellent command of Romanian language, both oral and written, including report-writing skills;
  • Working knowledge of Russian will be an asset (samples of developed reports should be provided, if any);
  • Proven experience of working with UNICEF or other UN Agencies will be an advantage.

Other qualifications:

  • Availability to work full-time with UNICEF as indicated in the current ToR;
  • Flexibility in responding to office needs.
