Moldova elected to UN Economic and Social Council

Elections for 18 vacant places for the UN Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC) took place on 21 October 2015, at the UN General Assembly in New York.

Republic of Moldova was elected with 179 votes. Czech Republic was also elected as one of ECOSOC members.

As an ECOSOC member, Republic of Moldova will have the possibility to promote its national priorities, related to economic, social and environmental focus areas within UN, as well as in the context of implementing the 2030 Agenda – The Sustainable Development Goals.

This is the second mandate of the Republic of Moldova as a member of ECOSOC, following the one during 2008-2010, which culminated with the position of ECOSOC vice-president in 2010.
