The main responsibilities of the consultant will be to provide technical expertise and services to perform strategic analysis of HIV/AIDS and related data for policy and operational decision-making, design and produce Geographic Information Systems (GIS) products, and disseminate data, and analysis of obtained data.
Main Tasks:
- Perform strategic analysis of HIV/AIDS and related data;
- Collect and organize relevant data from the National AIDS Centre and international agencies;
- Provide expert advice and consultation in defining data collection requirements and priorities;
- Provide UNAIDS and the M&E Department with expertise in the field of public health analysis and in Geographic Information Systems and relational databases in HIV/AIDS.
Requirements for applicants:
- Degree in the health field;
- Three to five years of experience are in the field of health data analysis in HIV/AIDS and geospatial analysis or the equivalent in educational programs;
- Expertise in public health issues with particular emphasis on HIV/AIDS, demography and population-based method;
- Experience manipulating data to prepare for analysis, development of analysis using accepted methodologies, maintenance of metadata;
- Ability to communicate complex concepts effectively to non-health experts and non-GIS users.
The period of performance for this effort will be through May 30, 2008.
